You got an espresso machine at home?
Your machine is able to do proper microfoam?
You want to learn to pour and practice latte art?
Most people like I do hope that they can pour a beautiful latte art in the shape of a heart, rosetta, etc. But milk is expensive and pouring too many will be wasteful and over-caffeinated if all of them are not being drank.
So how can I practice latte art without wasting milk and coffee?I found out from Scott‘s video that I can actually use soap and water to practice microfoaming on the machine. After achieving consistency in that, I can move on to the actual pour.
Instead of espresso, I will dust chocolate powder into the cup. So when I pour the soapy water, hopefully the pattern will turn out beautifully.
Scott explained in the video that the key to achieve consistency is to practice again and again. More importantly is to get the feel on the flow action. Also, do not stop in the middle of pour and keep it steady.

Did using water dusted with chocolate powder work in lieu of espresso?
