Recently, a friend of Chan, Venky in Penang bought a Nuova Simonelli Oscar.

“Do not be misled by its small size. This Oscar is capable to adequately serve most small cafes in Malaysia. Highlander Singapore is selling the Oscar at S$1799. Based on the currency exchange rate of 2.4, I can get myself one for RM4000++. I heard from Chan that Dankoff is going to bring in the Oscar as Dankoff is the official distributor of Nuova Simonelli in Malaysia.

Arrggh, I am now considering upgrading from my Silvia. It is another step to another level in my coffee progress. But only if I can get a buyer for my lovely Silvia, which has produced many great shots for my drinking pleasure.

Maybe I will also PID the machine before putting it up for sale for the benefit of the purchaser. However PIDing will need the help of my engineer friend if he can spare some time for me.

Even if I don’t sell at the end and have already PIDed my Silvia, the urge to upgrade is still there. Silvia is a great machine for enthusiasts but its biggest weakness like other home machines such as Gaggia Classic is it cannot brew and steam at the same time due to the boiler size. In the meantime, I will stick with my Silvia till I have the money to get one. I want a RED Oscar! It is so strikingly beautiful.
