Last Sunday, I hosted my 1st home barista jam @ my place. Never expect that many came although a few couldn’t make it.
The topics of the day that I initially planned to do was as below:
1. Do a cupping session with 2 single origin (Bolivian vs Kenyan). Coffee are from Square Mile, UK.
2. Brew coffee using other methods. Ex. French Press, pour-over filter, Aeropress, etc.
3. Espresso with LM 1 group
4. Latte Art
In the end, we only did the espresso & latte art as most of them are still learning on extracting espresso & microfoaming.
But, Dennis & I also brew a cup of coffee using the Moka pot & French press from the Kenyan coffee beans.
[tip] Coffees like Kenyan, which has high good quality acidity will taste its best & give you the rich fruity flavours when it is slightly cooler at 60-70°C. Try to spot the blueberries if you have a sensitive palate! [/tip]
In the end, I believe my coffee mates have learned a lot & will understand the differences between a commercial machine & a home machine.
For the full posting of that day’s barista jam, check out KF Chan’s blog. I did not take a lot of pictures as I was busy demonstrating on the perfect cup of coffee.
Since I have a LM at home at the moment, I am planning to write some coffee articles in the future. Anyone want to sponsor coffee & milk? Or if you are a photographer & interested in coffee photography, let me know!
