Last Friday, my good coffee geek friend, Irving helped me to get a new pressure gauge from Classic Coffee (formerly Simplex Maju). The purpose is to replace my faulty pressure gauge that had corroded & caused water leaks around the machine. Lately, it has gotten worse.

The brand new installed pressure gauge. Now I can read the correct brew & steam pressure on the LM.

The old, faulty pressure gauge. Look at the rust around the gauge.

The fitting of the gauge connected to both the boilers. No more leaks, yay!

After replacing the gauge, no more leaks, which I am happy of. The costs of the pressure gauge is RM280.25 (after 5% discount) & RM0 installation cost (Thank you Irving for the free installation).

Irving also brought his newly built pressure gauge portafilter for my viewing, which is impressive.

The right is the newly-built pressure gauge made by Irving. It costs around RM40 for the glycerine-filled gauge.

This is the pressure gauge built by KK Yoon, another new coffee geek that built this for his Gaggia machine. Irving got his ideas from this example. Hopefully we will have even more coffee geeks that will join us.

I will post more on the Irving’s DIY pressure gauge when I get to his house & play with the new Oscar espresso machine.

        Ethan,
From what I know, Krups espresso machine or similar machines r using pressurized portafilter (not Gaggia & Silvia). I will still need to hav a look on your Krups to confirm this. Also, certain portafilters will only fit certain machines due to the portafilter size & the grouphead.
